RCC Services

RIC has established an expert faculty team, consultant team, and skiiled staff members to provide professional services to our users. The major areas of expertise for which services will be provided include:

Research methodology (e.g. study design, biostatistics, bioinformatics);
Molecular and cellular biology and genetics;
Lead compound characterization and pharmacological mechanisms;
Formulation development and bioanalysis;
Biopharmaceutics and drug metabolism;
PK/PD characterization. Our goal is to integrate our expertise with these six areas to support our users, especially junior faculty members at TSU.
Collaboration with public health professionals. RIC provides public health professionals connections to develop interventions that address health disparities in collaborating with the Community Engagement Core (CEC) directed by Dr. Veronica Ajewole.

Is the Service Free?

RCC only provides fee-based services.

Since we are a non-profit organization and funded by NIH, we only charge our users to maintain the facility. Additionally, we have a 50% reduced charge for all external junior faculty or early-stage investigators (ESIs). For junior investigators who lack research funds, fees may be waived at the discretion of the RIC core director with approval from the Executive Leadership Team (ELT; CBMHR core leaders, PIs, and PD). Income from fees will be used to purchase lab supplies and in the long term sustain our core.

Our Service History

With RCMI support, We have served more than a dozen of TSU faculty members, whose research interests are biomedical research, in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) and College of Science Engineering and Technology (COSET). Additionally, we have established long-term collaborations with investigators from multiple institutions (e.g., UT El Paseo, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas A&M University, University of Houston). Many of these investigators have already funded by NIH, DOD, NSF or other agencies.
